“alignment”
That’s what they called the program where I worked for forcing all the different plant sites to meet the same cooperate mold. Part of the end result was work force reduction, though it was never billed as such. I retired before it was implemented, but due to “alignment” I now have the opportunity to be a double-dipping contractor since Operations Training doesn’t have the staffing to meet the regulatory requirements.

Let me guess. Your workplace (like many) had no succession planning. There was a hiring freeze years and no young graduates could get a job. And now the company is trying to play catch-up by hiring back all the old guys at $100/hour consultants.
